At that moment Edgar appeared in full armour before the Duke of Albany and Edmund. He came seeking revenge. Edgar, full of anger and hatred proclaimed, "Edmund, you are not true to God, nor your brothers and your father, you are nothing more than a rebellious thief." Edmund full of pride, proclaimed, "Let your heart be filled with disgusting lies from hell." The two of them took out their swords and began fighting while the horn trumpeted. Edmund was dead on the floor. His life of sin had ended.
Desperate Gonerial rushed to her own tent, took her knife and pierced her heart.
The Duke of Albany demanded the release of King Lear and Cordelia. However, it was too late, Cordelia had already been murdered. In a rage King Lear killed the assassin of his daughter, then he left the prison with heavy footsteps, carrying the dead body of his lovely little daughter. He died nursing his hatred.
The Duke of Albany succeeded the throne of King Lear. He commanded the whole country to show their mourning. He used the most respectful ceremony for the funeral of the king and his daughter Cordelia.
